Foraging gulls indicate the height of flying insects - JOCHEN LEMPERT

JOCHEN LEMPERT

Lempert is an artist-investigator who gives us a new slant on daily reality by the artistic manipulation of the scientific methods of classification and analysis.

The images he presents us with have the immediacy and apparent lack of aesthetic interest of photographs of a work taken by a scientist. But, by placing them in series and repeating them they take on a visual entity which together with the titles – once again typical of scientific work – present us with a new reality which was unknown to us and which emerges from the elements which constantly surround us in our daily life.

ORIGIN - George Gessert

A pioneer in the art of genetic manipulation, his work centres on the cross-breeding of plants and the treatment of the resulting flowers as works of art shown in galleries around the world.
He has cross-bred thousands of flowers, subverting the boundaries of the laws of evolution of the species as postulated by Darwin. For […]

LANDSTYLUS SURVEY #2 - Calum Stirling

Calum Stirling creates Landstylus #2 from a question: Is there a hidden music score in the landscape? Does the view of mountains have a certain melody?
This artist looks for the music hidden in the topography of the mountains.
To try to find the hidden universal language of nature is probably one of man’s oldest […]

SIMULADOR DE PAISAJES II - Fernando Sánchez-Castillo

LANDSCAPE SIMULATOR II - Fernando Sánchez Castillo

This work acts as the prologue which introduces the subject and the rest of the works. The historical reflection that is behind it means that we enter with an attitude that puts us on the alert about the relation that is established between power, man and nature.
A figure as historically powerful as Hitler […]

RESTAURACIÓ DE DUES PEDRES AL PORT DEL COMPTE - Perejaume

If Sánchez-Castillo’s work situates us in front of landscape historically and in relation to power, Perejaume’s work makes us reflect on the relation we establish with landscape based on admiration and reverence and how this relation causes us to adopt artificial attitudes towards it.
The artist causes a stone to be restored – using the […]
