LANDSCAPE SIMULATOR II - Fernando Sánchez Castillo

SIMULADOR DE PAISAJES II - Fernando Sánchez-Castillo

This work acts as the prologue which introduces the subject and the rest of the works. The historical reflection that is behind it means that we enter with an attitude that puts us on the alert about the relation that is established between power, man and nature.

A figure as historically powerful as Hitler and the atrocities he committed in the name of progress and the superiority of humanity means that we adopt a sceptical vision and, at the very least, critical and attentive.

“The mountain which appears as a scale model in this work reproduces a landscape from Adlernest (Eagle’s Nest), Hitler’s summer home and the place where experiments on nature were performed. One of Hitler’s first hobbies and frustrations was painting. From the watercolours he painted of Adlernest the artist has created this scale model.”
