RESTAURACIÓ DE DUES PEDRES AL PORT DEL COMPTE - Perejaume

If Sánchez-Castillo’s work situates us in front of landscape historically and in relation to power, Perejaume’s work makes us reflect on the relation we establish with landscape based on admiration and reverence and how this relation causes us to adopt artificial attitudes towards it.
The artist causes a stone to be restored – using the techniques of sculptural restoration at Port del Comte. This action arouses many questions: What does restore mean? Where is it valid to apply this concept and where isn’t it? What is the true state of its nature? And therefore, if we want to preserve it, in which point or state of this do we decide on? Does a conception of conserving landscape/nature have a real meaning? When conserving means intervening is it really an act of conservation? What role do science and technology play in all this process?
Even though it generates this profusion of questions, Perejaume’s gesture, as in all his production, is an eminently poetic one.
